Help Define the Future of the Capitol Lake/Lower Deschutes Watershed!

September 26, 2018

Long-term management strategies and actions are needed to address issues in the Capitol Lake Basin and surrounding watershed.

An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being prepared to document the potential environmental impacts of various alternatives and determine how these alternatives meet the long-term management objectives identified for Capitol Lake/Lower Deschutes Watershed. The primary alternatives to be evaluated, at a minimum, include:

  • Managed Lake
  • Restored Estuary
  • Hybrid
  • No Action (required in an EIS)

Scoping comment period has begun

The first step of an EIS is called scoping. During this phase, agencies, tribes, local communities, organizations and the public are asked to comment on what should be analyzed and considered in the EIS.

We want to hear from you now!

You have an essential role to play in the Capitol Lake/Lower Deschutes Watershed Long-Term Management Project EIS process. Please visit our online open house and/or attend an upcoming public meeting to learn more about the project, EIS process, and how to submit your comments by November 13, 2018.
